16|AULA cd Through a case study developed as an experiment in the “Avenida Centenario” (Centennial Avenue) of Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, the elements that affect the way we see and perceive objects were explored as an approach to developing a valid method to create dynamic urban lighting projects that will improve the comfort and perception of the users. Objetives This investigation analyses the main components that affect dynamic lighting, through detailed surveys and questionnaires and through the study of the third section of the “Parque de la Avenida Centenario” (Park of Centennial Avenue). Setting for the Analysis The study is set in the “Parque de la Avenida Centenario” in the city of “Salvador de Bahía”, (Brazil). The park is comprised by 1.990 meters of sidewalks, 1.440 meters bicycle lanes, 6.000m2 of walkways, 30.000m2 of green areas and 152.000 ml of lighting. This park is divided in 4 territories. Territory Esso, the third one is the study area. It covers 96 square meters and it has two walkways for fast transit, two bicycle lanes and two walkways for slow transit. The walkways for slow transit are illuminated by a static system of metal halide lamps of 150 W, 75lm/W, 5000K, IRC 63, 6000hrs VM and the luminary is 6 meters The walkway is divided in two sections, as can be appreciated in figure N°1 y N°2. Section 1: Illuminated directly on both sides with a distance between luminaries of 9 meters. This provides good lighting conditions. Section 2: Indirect lighting by the luminaries of the walkway which are in reduced lighting conditions. Participants A group of 25 people,12 of feminine sex and 13 of masculine sex and ranging in ages between 20 and 60 Figura N°2. Imágenes del tramo 1: por la mañana y por la noche. / Figure N°2. Images of section 1: in the morning and in the night. Plano N°2. Diseño del Tramo 1 del Territorio Esso y esquema general de la incidencia luminosa. / Plane N°2. Design of section 1 of the Territory Esso and general diagram of the luminous incidence. years old were divided in the following way: 14 people between 20 and 40 years old, 3 between 40 and 50 years old and 8 between 50 and 60 years old. All of them had normal sight. Analized Components In order to define the most relevant components, the problems and the benefits expected of the new systems of dynamic lighting were studied, as Tabla N°1. Relación entre aportes y componentes a ser analizados. / Table N°1. Relation between benefits and components to be analized.
