Nowadays, companies and private businesses are becoming increasingly conscious of the fact that an improvement in energy use, as well as the use of technologies that are less aggressive on the environment, contribute to a reduction in costs and in the gases of the greenhouse effect. Spain signed the Kioto Protocol and with it pledged to reduce de CO2 emissions. Energy savings and an improvement in energy efficiency are key to fulfil this commitment. For this reason, and to enhance the competitiveness of the businesses, adequate strategies should be implemented. The tools needed to introduce significant improvements in the development of technology should be made accessible, as well as the energy saving guidelines for the different sectors. The term Energy Efficiency can be defined as the reduction of energy use offering the same energy services, maintaining our level of comfort, protecting the environment, guaranteeing supply and promoting a sustainable behavior in its use. On the project for better energy use at the Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real, Applus used a work system, as well as the needed human and technological resources, to guarantee the best quality work. Among them the following stand out: • Technical personnel, on the field as well as in the office, specialized in doing Energy Audits and with a wide experience in the field of energy management and efficiency. The work team, is highly qualified and specialized in the different areas that are part of the Energy Audit: Control and authentication, analysis and energy simulation. • Use of the adequate equipment for measurement and certification, with the relevant processes of maintenance and calibration, striving to do an in- depth examination of the energy use and the behavior of the facility. • Once the distribution of the use of lighting in the hotel is determined, measures for energy savings are outlined for each area, indicating the description of the measures and the expected energy savings. • The following, details the different phases and tasks that will be carried out towards the
