28|REPORTAJE T he UN General Assembly, in its LXVIII session, proclaimed the year 2015, International Year of Light (YL2015). The initiative for the year of light was presented by Mexico on November 2013. The international year has the support of international scientific associations as well as lighting design associations such as the International Association of Lighting Designers, IALD, and the L-RO collective, Lighting-Related Organizations which were created to improve international recognition of lighting design. The objectives of the International Year of Light and Technologies based is a beautiful metaphor of knowledge in its wider sense. I wish there were more awareness of the importance of light and its possibilities. It would be very beneficial if all this attention would bring solutions for a more sustainable and efficient use of natural and artificial light. I am working several topics around light: for four years now, I have been posting an image daily on my web page (“Footsteps”). In 2015, light will be the main character. I live with it and possibly, light is my “virtual partner” since it is always with me. It never fails, it is always there. When it is not, I am waiting for it come; and it does. I confess that I am a voyeur of light. I also intend to work and transform it. I believe that IYL2015 is very important, and I will be present in as many events as I can. Personally, I have been working for a year in an assignment of my own, a technical book but an artistic one; a small contribution of history, of evolution.
