60|A FONDO available, the size of the lamps, the possibility of using colored lights and the dynamism that the control systems offer has brought about the disuse of the traditional lighting systems. These exceptional possibilities, of which the use of dynamic colored light is the most striking, are bringing about a change in the nocturnal landscape of the historic centers. Unfortunately, on many occasions we find light shows that are an attack on the most basic sense of taste. On the other hand, the integration of light to the skin of a newly-designed building allows the architecture to engage in an ephemeral and changing dialogue with its social and urban environment without losing its identity. The logic and beauty of this dialog will depend on the quality of the project being implemented. This Conference has intended, for the first time in our setting, to address the influence of dynamic and colored light on the nocturnal landscape of historical centers under the premise of the conservation and the protection of its image and identity. The urbanism of light Light urbanism is another topic we don’t frequently talked about. The advances in the systems of data transmission and in the LED technology, give new drive to the idea of organizing artificial light in the cities, adapted to the habits of the citizens and in a more functional, flexible way than it was possible a few years ago. Putting thought into finding a solution, simultaneously, to functional, ornamental and commercial lighting of the historic centers is a necessity. Several important designers such as Roger Narboni have insisted on it. Furthermore, it is imperative in the present circumstances. The sustainable growth of our cities demands it: the good use of the economic resources, the energy savings improving, in parallel, the public lighting service and the valorization of the Heritage as cultural capital of every citizen, should show- in our professional field-the path to the future. The culture of light In the emblematic “Plaza de Cibeles” in Madrid, there are two buildings lit with LED technology and in the middle, the fountain with its recently lit statue.
