First meeting of follow-up of the European project ACORN in the CTC

During the days 18 and 19 March took place in the installations of the Technological Centre of Components (CTC) the first meeting of follow-up of the project ACORN (Advanced Coatings for Offshore Renewable Power). To said meeting assisted the researchers and responsible of the distinct entities that form the Project, as they are the TWI, the University of Göteborg and the companies Wave Dragon, Tocardo Tidal Turbines, Alphatek Hyperformance Coatings Limited and Degima. During the meeting reviewed the actions carried out up to now in the project and scheduled the following to realizar for the next six months of face to the fulfillment of his aims.

Besides, during these two days realizar two visits, the first to the installations of the Cantabrian company Degima, where could see the process of construction of a converter of marine energies. The second was to the laboratories of the CTC, where the members of the consortium could know the capacities of the Centre, especially in the fields of investigation of Materials Advanced and of Corrosion, through the explanation of the scientific equipment and technician with which explains .

The project ACORN, funded by the European Union under the Seventh Program Marco, has like main aim the development of two new solutions to the problems of the biofouling and the cavitación/corrosion, offering specific advantages for structures offshore fixed, as they are the turbines of marine wind power and the converters of power of the waves.
