3B the Fibreglass company received the JEC innovation award in the category of construction. The pioneer settlement of coating of composite reinforced pultrusionado gave sufficient freedom to study King Roselli Architetti of Rome to conceive a distinctive and contemporary design for the Sheraton airport hotel of Malpensa in Milan (Italy).
The CEO of the company, Hugues Jacquemin, says: "3B is a young and enterprising company in less than three years of activity is already known in the industry for his invention and its determination to offer, to collaborate with our clients, groundbreaking and award-winning solutions".
The new Sheraton hotel, opened in July 2010, represents the contemporaneity not only by its design, but also by the applied technologies and materials chosen to build it. According to the architect Riccardo Roselli, "A key feature of the design is the general form of construction;" We are more before that object to a building. "The concept of the hotel is based in a large casing that surrounds the modules that contain the rooms, a wrapper built by applying an external coating made from a composite material reinforced with glass fibre".
Working with 3B to develop and provide accurate reinforcements, the Italian firm Progettazione Costruzione Ricerca (P.C.R. Srl) manufactured compound plates that make up the outer layer using the pultrusion process. The layer has a finish of quartz obtained through exclusive P.C.R. Qflex technology, and is hidrófuga. The outer surface is coated with a greyish-white film.
