Kömmerling systems, present in the Solar Decathlon

Innovation is every day more linked to sustainability and that is why in all the world are awards and competitions to find the best system to improve our way of life. In Kömmerling is trying to remind us that for a time that is perocupan for the environment and, on this occasion, have decided to participate in the Solar Decathlon, who first left the United States to be held in the capital of our country.
The Solar Decathlon travelled from Washington to Madrid, a fact which will again take place in 2012. Kömmerling has returned to work with the contest, reason why invited on Thursday 24 June a group of journalists to visit the site expositorio and some of the solar houses that concursaban. But in addition to competition, the enclosure were held in children's activities, informative conferences, exhibitions of solar factories or workshops to promote the respect for the environment and raise awareness and educate the young on such important aspects as the responsible use of energy and caring for the environment.
Guided by the head of marketing at Kómmerling, Javier Bermejo, the journalists we had the opportunity to see up close the so-called houses of the future, that despite being of a size of 60 m2 i something claustrophobia, meet all the conditions to be sustainable and environmentally-friendly buildings with the environment. Sergio Vega, project manager of Solar Decathlon Europe made it clear that the organization is delighted with the possibility of holding the pageant in our country, not one but two times (next in 2012).
He also explained the present 17 universities that participated in the contest must pass 10 tests (architecture, performance, social awareness, sustainability, industrial and commercial, among others). Vega explained that the houses that were submitted to contest were monotorizadas on a daily basis, in accordance with the criteria of each of the tests, after which each House obtained a score. Finally the winning House was that of the draft submitted by the University of Virginia, while the Institute for advanced architecture of Catalonia and the CEU Cardenal Herrera received the 'audience award' in the Solar village and the University of Florida, 'the web audience award'.

The coincidence of Kömmerling values with this University contest international search the best solar house of the world (i.e. the more efficient in energy terms), led to the brand to become one of its official sponsors and reinstall their joinery of high-performance at the headquarters of the competitiondesigned by the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). The project of the UPM in keeping with the programme of sustainable development that the firm has in place in order to enhance sustainability at three interrelated and interdependent levels: ecological, social and economic.
Solar Decathlon Europe (SDE) opted for a sustainable building to house the offices of the Organization during the competition. It was designed by architects researchers of the Group of research TISE (sustainable and innovative techniques) of the school of architecture of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) in the building, stood, in the 'Solar village', on the East Bank of the Manzanares River, and it housed the center of reception of the competition.
Apart from his participation as a sponsor, Kömmerling was the brand name chosen by the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) for the installation of their woodwork of high-performance at the headquarters of the competition. The UPM already chose the woodwork of this brand for the contest last year, and despite the fact that this year does not participate (as organizer), returned them to select. A research team, composed of architects, has studied the best solutions for building sustainable and energy-efficient homes and, after analysing in detail the remedies proposed by Kömmerling, decided by these systems.

On the other hand, this energy-efficient building meets requirements bioclimatic: volume suitable for the climate in which it is located; composition, size and location of holes according to external conditions and interiors; composition of Windows and doors from PVC of the German mark to base elements multilayer high performance and the highest level of isolation; use of efficient air conditioning systems; use of low consumption lighting systems; domotic for the building work on the basis of a few slogans of comfort and energy efficiency. In addition, computer and electronic equipment were chosen on the basis of the reduction of consumption.

Also, to come still closer to sustainable architecture, were incorporated into the building natural materials like wood and rubber to carry out structural functions, insulation and finishing, generating more warm and pleasant spaces. A peculiarity of this building is that industrial innovator developed in the Tise group, which combines three-dimensional industrial modules (executed 3D workshop, where all active systems of the House as humid rooms are located) is a constructive system(, technological backpack and double skin), with 2D systems (composed of both vertical and horizontal panels).
The Tise group aims to develop new systems and technologies for a new way of conceiving buildings industrialized, high energy efficiency, competitive with traditional, but much more sustainable construction systems. For this reason, after being on the 'Solar village', building, developed as a continuation of the inquiries undertaken with the solar House that UPM competed in Solar Decathlon 2007, will be used as experimental research prototype until the next competition in 2012.
Kömmerling was present during all the competition through a corporate stand and collaborated actively in the activities undertaken (workshops for all ages, conferences and discussions, guided tours of the 'Solar village', etc.). Also, the German firm made several tours customized by the site to different personalities, architects and other professionals of the sector, customers, press, etc. The sponsorship of Kömmerling extends until 2012 (year in which the competition returns to Madrid) and during this time the German brand will promote this outstanding event through its corporate and advertising material.
