The EU publishes changes affecting engines marketed under the flexible system
April 8, 2010
On April 1, the Official Journal of the European Union published directive 2010/26/EU of the Commission, amending Directive 97/68/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the approximation of the laws of the States members relating to measures against the emission of gaseous and particulate pollutants from the internal combustion engines to be installed in non road mobile machines, as reported by Anmopyc.
Since the last amendment of Directive 97/68/EC, is progress technically in the design of the diesel engines so that they comply with the limits of stages IIIB and IV exhaust emission. Engines with electronic control, which largely replaces the control and mechanical fuel injection systems have been developed. Through this directive, adapt existing General requirements for approval of type of annex I of Directive 97/68/EC and introduces general requirements for the type-approval for the III B and IV phasesin order to take account of this type of engines.
On the other hand, given that to ensure an application right of the stage III B, it may be necessary to resort to a greater extent to the so-called 'flexible', the directive EU/26/2010 amends paragraphs 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7 of annex XIII of Directive 97/68/EC. Amendments aims to simplify the requirements regarding notification and reporting obligations, as well as to make them more specific and adapted to the need of the market surveillance authorities.
The provisions contained in the EU directive 2010/26 are in force since April 2.
