Biomass: guarantee of saving, hygiene of supply and confort

Fidel Pérez, like general director of the Institute for the Diversification and Saving of the Power (IDAE), went the attendant to open the day resaltando the support that from this entity comes showing by Expobienergía from the year 2006. “Expobienergía Has consolidated edition after edition like the big fair of international reference in the field of the biomass”, signalled the responsible maximum of the IDAE, for the one who this type of power has to contribute decisively to reduce the costs and to improve the competitiveness of our economy.

According to Fidel Pérez, the biomass opens new opportunities in fields so diverse like the agriculture, the company, the industry, the individuals, the public buildings and the State in general, that has in this source of power a big opportunity to reduce his commercial deficit, generate employment and reduce the broadcasts of CO₂.

The second intervention ran to charge of Javier Díaz, president of Avebiom (Spanish Association of Energetic Assessment of the Biomass), the one who also occupies the presidency of Expobienergía, and the one who stood out the growth experienced by the biomass in our country. As it put of self-evident in his intervention, the National Observatory of Boilers of Biomass (ONCB) already has registered more than 27.086 references of installations in Spain, with an installed power accumulated of 1.524 MW (these data correspond to the 40-45% of the total of the market since the rest of the real power installed is not controlled by the ONCB).

Inside these 1.524 MW, 55% corresponds to the industrial use, 32% to domestic use and 13% to public use, what also shows the big opportunities of growth that still exist in the different subsectores.

The biomass confirms as well as a formula to boost the saving, give stability to the energetic prices and guarantee the supply. While the prices of the fuels fossils do not leave to go up, the one of the biofuels remain stable. At the same time it allows to reduce the external dependency since in our country explain at present, amongst other half, with 34 plants of manufacture of pellets wooden, with a capacity of production of 708.000 tonnes/year, what guarantees this supply.

With the intention to take advantage of the remarkable opportunities that offers the biomass and provide a forum of professional meeting, was cream Expobionergía, that this year will fulfil his seventh edition deepening in his aim to gather in Valladolid the last technology of the market.

The edition of this year explains besides with stood out parallel activities like the third days of Biomun (Biopower for Municipalities), a meeting point headed to mayors and members of local corporations, responsible and technicians of deputations, groups of rural development and other public servicys, in which they can know real examples of installations of biomass in municipalities and, from here, find efficient solutions to reduce the energetic expense, generate employment, take advantage of the own resources and improve the environingingmental sustainability. After the 383 participants of 2011, for this new edition Biomun expects to arrive to the 500 participants.

Another of the strong points of this edition of Expobionergía will be the celebration in parallel of ‘Connects Biopower', in which the professionals of the bionergía present integral solutions adapted to the energetic needs of the sectors invited, that in this occasion will be the related with the tourist accommodations (sector that contributes 10,2% of our GDP), the industry agroalimentaria (81.000 million turnover in Spain), the private educational centres (17.943 schools in Spain with an installed half power of 470 kW/school) and the blocks of houses. As it can check , these four segments are big consumers of thermal sensors and electrical power and with ‘Connect Bionergía' wants to them help to increase the saving, improve the energetic efficiency, obtain advantageous conditions of financials and of externalización of services, win in hygiene in the supply of biofuels and in stability of prices, reduce the broadcasts of CO₂ and give them the possibility of cogenerar or trigenerar.

Jorge Smith, director of Expobionergía, stood out the big bet of this meeting by the new digital tools, that have allowed him, between other things, explain already in his web during the last year with near of 80.000 visitors and enjoy of a remarkable presence in twitter, facebook or youtube.

To level ferial, Expobioenergía closed his edition of 2011 with 13.596 professional visitors, pertinent of 39 countries, and with the participation of 453 entities, what consolidated his half annual growth of 15% (parallel to the evolution that follows the sector of the biomass).

Besides, the assistants characterise for following a high technical profile (22% are installers and 16% distributors of equipment) and for going out of the fair with a high degree of satisfaction (9 of each 10 declare that they will repeat presence).

According to Jorge Smith, there are four concepts that define Expobienergía and, more in general, the market of the biomass: Sustainability, like a sustainable sector in the time; Transparency, that has to end in confidence; Commitment with all the agents of the sector; and Social Responsibility.

The director of Expobionergía did not want to finish his intervention without remembering that the edition of this year coincides with the International Year of the Sustainable Power, what has to suppose an additional impulse for the employment of the biomass.

The last intervention ran to charge of Álvaro Picardo, responsible of Half Natural in the Council of Environingingment in the Board of Castile and Leon, the one who showed the important paper that has to play the biomass in a context like the current, in which every time it earns more importance the saving and the energetic efficiency.

Besides, stood out the bet that from his Autonomous Community does by the biomass, with measures like the project announced by the president of the Board does a year to implant in 180 centres of the region installations of biomass, in a term of four years. In fact already they have executed three pilot projects in a school, in a residence of elderly and in a centre of health, with a total installed power of 1,4 MW and an investment of 560.000 euros (the total investment for all the project will be of 40 million euros).

The day in the IDAE concluded with diverse aim on the contribution that can give the biomass in fields so diverse like the creation of employment (according to a study, in a municipality of 10.000 inhabitants, the thermal sensors supply of biomass can generate 135 places of work in this geographic surroundings), in the saving in the costs of the fuel (of the 65-70% of the astilla regarding the diesel, and of the 45-50% of the pellet in front of the diesel), in the reduction of the risk of fires in our forestrys or in the decrease of the broadcasts of CO₂.

The manufacture of biofuels is 100% sustainable, warns forestry fires and generates thousands of places of work in the rural zones. In this sense, in Spain take advantage of a ínfima part of the available forestry biomass for energetic use, leaving that the majority of our forestrys are improductivos or finish burning. Whereas here we take advantage of less than 38% of the forestry resources, in other European countries employ more than 90% of sustainable form.

The biomass is the only of the renewable energies that is easily manageable, almacenable, that generates of sustainable form and to demand of the user. And the most important, whereas the price of the fuels fossils (diesel and gas) does not leave to go up, the price of the solid biofuels (pellets and astillas wooden) remains stable in all Europe, from does more than 10 years.
