Atlas Copco held its second annual day of press of the Division of compressors
July 28, 2011
The representatives of the division of compressors of Atlas Copco received warmly to the press in the second annual day devoted to the skilled means. This is always a type of days in which journalists and spokesmen of the mark share a day moved away of the city with the aim to present projects or products of a form something more informal and, especially, to tighten bows between the two sides of the information.
In this case, Eckart Rottger, Manager of Atlas Copco, was in charge of presenting the company and explain what steps has given your company to achieve energy savings. For that reason, he presented the savings solutions that allow to decrease energy expenditure associated with the production of compressed air. But before that, he explained that economically the company has recovered relatively easily in the fall of 2009, that commented Rottger, "have grown 20% in 2010, margin and sales".
Possibly the diversification has been one of the keys that they have business in Brazil, USA, Africa, the countries of the East and China, a country which represents 14 per cent of their income. By percentages, Europe remains the continent most contribution to Atlas Copco, with 32 per cent of business, although before the crisis, this figure reached 40%. This has meant an increase in the percentages of other continents, Asia and Australia, which represent 28%, America North, 18 per cent, or South America and Africa and Near East, both with 11%.
Entering matter Rottger explained that Atlas Copco is "committed to sustainable productivity" and that therefore "we cannot guarantee that products of our customers work more efficiently". This flailed the virtues of compressors of variable speed, which "saves 35% of the energy on previous technology", and the compressor without oil, proprietary technology of the company, which he called "class 0, that can design a process that ensures a 0% of oil in the air".
Saving energy as a way of working
Julián García, 'national sales manager,' acknowledged the compressed air is an expensive technology and there are inevitable leaks in all systems, but it is capable of saving energy generation (7%), distribution (11%), consumer (3%) and new technologies (6%).
For its part, Pompilio Hernández, product manager, explained that "we have 20 years dedicated to energy efficiency". To explain his commitment to energy savings, explained that "we have carried out energy audits 4,000", since "that is not measured is not known, is controlled or can be improved". These audits have shown, for example, that "each compression method is more efficient depending on the required flow".
Efficient air treatment, made it clear that water is a problem for compressed air systems, that is why, with an audit "we could save 50,000 euros in 10 years with the anti-water improvements". On the other hand, explained that "a leak of 1.5 mm can cost 4,000 euros per year" and that "we have detected nearly four thousand leaks over the past three years that have meant a saving of EUR 2 million per year".
Non-oil systems
Ángel García, director of compressors, explained the present free oil in contact with the air system. He said he gets a "100 per cent of energy recovery" in hot water. It also made it clear that "compressor Z recover between 80 and 105 per cent, if the humidity is high, which allows to heat the boiler, water shower, radiators, etc".
After the meal, all posed together for the final picture.
For its part, Diego Moreno, business line manager of Transportable energy, was commissioned to explain the system of energy at the same time. For those customers who apply for systems that do not ever stop machines, "with the energy at the same time you can make", that "with three generators can assign several stretches of power, saving energy on one of high power".
The new model QAC1250, explained, "it is compact and has a fan variable speed with lower fuel consumption, lower emissions of CO2, with low levels of noise and a great performance". For these reasons, this model "saves an average of 11 litres of fuel at the time, which means about 6% of savings." With the same size provides 15% more power than the model AQC1000 ".
