Steel in construction

Barcelona has taken the relay of Nice (in 2005) and Luxembourg (in 2007) in the holding of the Congress. On both occasions, participation topped 270 attendees and the screening and dissemination of the event was notable, both in purely domestic and international. This year, the ECCS Congress received around 300 people between Presidents and Vice Presidents of the associations and entrepreneurs and technicians (architects, engineers and project managers).
As every year, Congress is directed to the sector of machinery, software, accessories and services required for the construction of steel structural buildings. Thus, to have place steel companies, subestructuristas, estructuristas of steel, software companies in construction, lifting companies, work at height, prevention of risks, finishing and protection of steel, fire protection, assemblers, suppliers of all types of materials for the construction of metal structure, workshop, architects, engineers, calculators, machinery technical prescribers of structures, administration technicians and construction companies, among others.
A complete program
In this Edition, moreover, the construction of multi-storey buildings, Congress tried to issues such as the emblematic buildings, with cases in China, Germany and Spain, and the development of the European market. Other aspects dealt with in the event were the calculator of steel profiles; Engineering and design of bridges; sustainable bridges; design of wind farms; wind towers, as well as protection and corrosion of the steel. In addition, attended conferences master as that delivered Luis Alonso and Agustí Obiol, and a forum (Steel Construction), consisting of steel companies, processors, distributors and builders.
The best design awards
Every two years, the European Steel Design Awards rewards the steel construction designs that emphasize the advantages of the steel in architecture, construction, production and economy. In this Edition, the award went to a score of projects from each of the participating countries. Spain received the award for the media-TIC building of Barcelona, a property owned by the Zona Franca Consortium, designed by the firm of Cloud 9 architecture.
