The study Oliveras Boix Arquitectes wins the Prizes BASF of architecture
The jury has been composed by Enric Mir and Manuel Ruisánchez, architects and members of the board of the COAC; Gerardo Wadel, architect and partner founder of the Organic Society; Carmen Moral, of the department of Specification of BASF Construction Chemicals, and Andreas Moser, architect of BASF Spanish.
Awarded the prize in the category of Better Project to the group of equipments situated in the ancient factory Alchemika of the neighbourhood of the Camp of the Harp of Barcelona, of the study Oliveras Boix Arquitectes. Composed by a library, a kindergarten, a centre of neighbourhood and a residence for the greater people, the jury valued the intelligent urban interaction of a social program, complex and diverse that by means of rehabilitation of existent buildings and new work builds architecture and spaces of big quality putting in value the memory of the place. The winning project has preserved the façade of work dress of the pre-existing building, work of the architect Francesc Mitjans. The openings of playgrounds have propiciado the apparition of new faã§ades, in which it has used a solution of thermal sensors isolations for the outside. Likewise, it has installed a ventilated façade to elevate the body voladizo of the residence. In both cases used the thermal sensors isolation Neopor of BASF.
The second prize with special quotation of the Sustainability, delivered to the project ‘Warehouse vitivinícola for the Cellar Lagravera' realised by the architects Carles Room and Relja Ferusic. A work valued for preserving a building keeping his original character, in spite of a change of use, posing a vision of the sustainability understood like maximum reuse of existent resources and minimum affectation of new. In this project used the system Mastertop 1720 and the Mastertop TC428 of BASF Construction Chemicals, apt pavings for the alimentary use in aqueous base.
Special quotations
Because of the quality of the works presented awarded two special quotations. The first to the ‘Building of 115 houses of Official protection – Puig d'in Rock' of Gironinginga, work of the study Arcadi Pla and But Miquel Arquitecte, by the application of passive and active strategies in a residential proposal of big urban and architectural complexity and for endowing to the building of the mechanisms to ensure the measurement and the control of the power in phase of use.
The second qualified quotation was for the work ‘Centre of day for patients of Alzheimer' of Novelda, realised by the architects Ángel Martínez, Carlos Sánchez and Luis Navarro. The jury valued the bet and incorporation of the innovative materials of BASF Construction Chemicals that contribute to the reduction of noises and to the no apparition of architectural barriers, that collaborate in the fulfillment of the high exigencias technical and aesthetics of the own project.
The act, presented by Javier Crag, scientific director of Mater - Centre of Materials of the FAD, concluded with the words of the dean of the Cabbage•legi d'Arquitectes of Catalonia, Lluis Comerón, the one who stood out the importance of the election of the materials to the hour to realise a project and appreciated the new initiative of BASF Construction Chemicals.
