The past 30 November, the students of architecture of the Ceramic Chair that Ascer has in the Upper Technical School of architecture of the Universitat International of Catalonia of Barcelona (ESARQ-UIC), presented the works realised in the asignatura ‘Innovation and design with ceramic materials'. The works of this ninth edition of the course have treated the use of the ceramics in the Mediterranean playgrounds, to endow it of contemporary properties like the control of the light or the climate. Considering the current moment, several works presented answered to the needs of the sector to the repensar or reutilizar pieces already existent in the market and offer with them new uses and functionalities in the architecture.

The projects of the students have been evaluated by the architects Ramón Bosch, of Bosch Capdeferro Arquitectes; Tomeu Ramis and Aixa of Rey, of the dispatch of Flexo architecture, and Eva Pedrajas, in representation of Ascer. From among the dozen of works presented, have been rewarded the following students with his corresponding projects:
- Joan Durà (Eufonic): piece that offers a big versatilidad, that is able to work in individual and in group. It solves an important problem as it is the acoustic and has big capacity to combine with other materials.

- Joan Marc Garcés (Re-Tile): system that works the excess of existent material in the ceramic factories. It is able to remark the context of the ceramic piece, the resignifica. Solution in which an architect is necessary, designing a new resource with an already existent material.

- Sergi Cabanes (Arpi): A work realised from the local, the next and the memory. Game of three ceramic pieces with handmade character and that resolve distinct functions related with the light and the vegetation in an external playground.

Coinciding with the meeting of the jury, presented the Ceramic ‘Material publication 8', edited by the team of the Ceramic Chair of Barcelona. As it already is usual, the book presents a recopilatorio of the works elaborated by the students of the ESARQ-UIC during the past course, that in this occasion treated to give answer to how can help the ceramics to build a more sustainable architecture.
