The motors KDI posit like allies of the professional of the Construction

The motors KDI have attained to keep the intervals of service in 500 hours and, for some punctual cases, until the 750 hours (250 hours more regarding the motors Tier 3/Stage IIIA and until 350 hours more regarding the same engine with DPF). Besides, the fault of DPF comports that this do not have to be substituted (foreseen each 3.000 hours).

Obviously another element to take into account is the saving of carburante. A low consumption is something very appreciated by all professional of the Construction but especially by machines of quarries purchased by companies alquiladoras. Thus Kohler proposes like technical solution the direct injection, four valves by cylinder and not incorporating DPF. The solution selected, joined to the fault of the process of regeneration, produces a reduction in the consumption of 5% compared the motors KDI with versions of electronic injection of 1.600 bar and DPF, and of 10% comparing them with motors of indirect injection and DPF ‘stand alone'.

One of the big challenges to which confront the manufacturers of motors with the entrance of the new normative, is the one to offer to his customers the new versions in a volume contained, giving them the possibility to change of motorisation without having to rediseñar the destined space in the machine to the engine. In this appearance, to the not having DPF the new motors, wins in compacidad. Besides, the motors KDI have been designed to be able to to be incorporated in the volume of the main motors of the competition between 37 and 56 kW.

The smallest version, KDI 1903M, presents some dimensions of 667,5 x 598,3 x 452,5 mm (h x To x L), whereas in the greater, KDI 2504TCR, these dimensions are of 718,8 x 704,3 x 520,7 mm.

The system of distribution of the engine KDI is constituted by a train of gears of big robustness without manutención and/or replacement. The engine KDI has been testado so much to level of project (simulation) as to level of room of proofs (development) in conditions more severe that those that will find in the daily work.

The range KDI constitutes an important opportunity for the future. They are two the aims attained by the development of the new family of motors: in the first place fulfil with the levels of valid broadcast from the first of January of 2013 (TIER 4 final; Stage IIIB); and in second term, expand the range of motors diesel until the 100kW.

The three models of direct injection, that distinguish by a cilindrada different (1.9L – 2.5L – 3.4L), offer two distinct configurations: Mechanical Injection (compliance to the norms of broadcast Tier 3/Stage IIIA) and Injection Common Rail (compliance to the norms of broadcast Tier 4/Stage IIIB).

The production of the models 1.9L and 2.5L will begin in the fourth quarter of 2012. For the model 3.4L it will be necessary to expect until finals of 2014.
