CAT manages an ergonomics Award for its Active Sway Control System
June 30, 2011
Every year, the Association of United Kingdom Forklift Truck Association (FLTA) forklifts, gives their prestigious FLTA award excellence to highlight advances and most striking achievements in the field of materials handling. During these awards the Active Sway Control (active oscillation control ASC) system for level order picker high level CAT (version in Spain by Bergé maintenance Iberian) received the award 'archie' to ergonomics.
The ASC system comprising sensors in hydraulic pressure and specific software calculates and applies the necessary compensation to reduce excess oscillation. Eliminate the uncomfortable sensation caused by an excessive mast oscillation that operator slows down or speeds up. In addition, when applying the ASC system downtime is halved, which increases the productivity of the traditional tasks by 6% and makes the operator feel comfortable in their work.
Jan van den Elsakker, product manager, explains: "When designing this software-based solution, all agree that would improve significantly the ergonomics and the daily performance of the operator." We also believe that we can reduce up in 25 minutes of lost production in each work shift. This 'Archie' is a great recognition for our engineers. The award would not have been possible without all the people who voted for our system ASC. "We are deeply grateful to all of them".
