Asefma Travels to Guatemala to explain the global situation of the sector asphalt

The Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Asphaltic Mixes (Asefma) presents in Guatemala and in front of cientos of international experts the global situation of the sector of the paving, to world-wide level. Special attention loans to the situation of Europe, from the recently published data by Eapa, the European association of producers of asphaltic mixes.

Spain, with a production of bituminous mixes underneath of the 20 million tonnes in 2012, experiences an upper collapse to 58%, with regard to 2007. In the EU27 however, the production registers for the same period a fall of 7,5% that leaves to Spain to the tail of Europe. In absolute value, Spain registers the greater European fall: more than 29 million tonnes, with regard to 2007. This figure, the lowest of the last 25 years, is far to cover the needs of the, however, second greater European network of roads, with 650.000 kilometres in total.

The collapse of the production of bituminous mix is an indicator of the absence of investment and political of conservation of roads. Like this it was expressesed in the XVII Congress Ibero-Latin American of the Asphalt, of the that Spain is partner from 1981 and Asefma has one of the international delegations.

The Spanish representation in which it considers the greater world-wide event linked to asphalt and paving no only treated the challenges to which confronts the sector in Spain. Asefma Also presented the advances in R&D that, in spite of the obstacles, continue developing the manufacturers of Spanish asphalt and guarantee sustainable and respectful roads with the environingingment.

The manufacturers of Spanish asphalt, that gather of the 17 to 22 November with his homologous iberoamericanos, expressesed also the keys to go out of the agónica situation that lives the sector. In this line, Asefma considers fundamental the development of a Law that force to the Public Administrations to allocate annually resources to conservation of roads, attending to the value patrimonial of the network, estimated in 185.000 million euros.

The members of Asefma, leaders in R&D in asphalt and paving, also expressesed cuán indispensable is the governmental support in this line. In front of some General Budgets increasingly move# away of the real needs of the infrastructures of Spanish transports, remember the need that the Government bet by tools like the Innovative Public Purchase in areas like the hygiene vial and the Environingingment, where the firm of road exert an essential function.
