Asefma Announces that Spain situates to the tail of Europe in production of bituminous mix

The network of roads of Spain situates in the top have world-wide and between the three first countries of Europe with more 650.000 kilometres. This figure does not correspond , however, with the investment in conservation of the same, on the contrary: Spain has happened to produce the record figure of 49,9 million tonnes in 2007 to only 19,5 million tonnes in 2012, with a descent accumulated of 58,7% in the last 6 years.

The production of bituminous mix is a very significant indicator on the investment in conservation of roads. Thus, the fall of the production in front of other producing countries Europeans is alarming. While the descent in Europe, with an inferior average to 7% in the period 2007-2011, is moderate; Spain experiences a collapse in production of bituminous upper to 58%.

The absence of bottoms and investments allocated to improve and rehabilitate the Spanish network of roads is the main cause of the fall in hammered of the manufacture of bituminous mix in our country and has direct consequences on the employment, costs of transport and environingingment. Asefma Regrets that they are already more than 850 days in which it does not produce bidding any in reinforcement of firm to conserve the Network of Roads of the State.
