Zaragoza will host the annual General meeting of Eurocities from 3 to 6 November 2010, an event involving mayors and representatives of the main cities of Europe. This annual meeting will be held under the motto 'Cities of success, vision and identity', an issue closely linked with Zaragoza and its process of creation and diffusion of city brand, and which has aroused a tremendous enthusiasm among the cities member of Eurocities. Their program will include lectures, the Eurocities 2010 awards and working sessions and plenary that will be developed in some of the most emblematic buildings of the city.
The Marketing of cities as a strategy for promoting cities and territories, has become a fundamental tool to attract investment, art, culture and inhabitants to the cities, competing in a globalized world to show their best attractions. The appointment of Zaragoza will make it possible to share experiences of the cities that have more success in its management of brand, as well as analyzing the impact of the use of these techniques of branding in the local economy.
The celebration of the Eurocities 2010 in Zaragoza meeting represents a strong impetus to the international promotion of the Aragonese capital, which is expected for an approximate attendance of 400 delegates, including authorities, representatives of the EU and other organizations of the public and private sectors of the continent.
Zaragoza joined Eurocities in June 2002 and since then its participation has been increasing, to host various meetings and forums, is currently the only Spanish city that is a member of the Executive Committee made up of 12 cities (Budapest, Copenhagen, Stockholm)(, Ghent, Genoa, the Hague, Leipzig, Lyon, Nantes-Metropol, Warsaw, Vienna and Zaragoza).
Eurocities is the main network of European cities with more than 140 members from 36 countries, and that includes some of the most important capitals of Europe: Vienna, Brussels, Berlin, Rome, London, country, Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, etc.
