Developed a sensor that changes color for meat and fish in a bad state
May 2, 2011
A group of researchers of Fraunhofer Research Institution for Modular Solid State technologies (EMFT) has developed a new sensor in the form of film, which can be integrated into the same package, and that he will take part in quality control. If the food is contaminated, it will change color in the Act.
The film can immediately give a color green or in different shades of yellow depending on the State of contamination of the product. The sensor is integrated into the interior of the container, which responds to biogenic amines. Amines are molecules that are produced when food, such as fish and meat, are deteriorating. They are responsible for a bad odor. If the amines are related to the air inside of the container, the indicator found on the film sensor reacts and changes color from yellow to blue.
