The company Protego, engineers and manufacturers of explosion protection systems, has presented a new programme of calculation and dimensioning of vents to atmospheric storage tanks and low pressure. This program allows to calculate the flow-rates required for the (empty) inhalation and exhalation (overpressure) of tanks, as well as the sizing of systems of venting (valves pressure / vacuum) in the same pack.
As a great novelty, the Protego program incorporates the latest methods developed for the calculation of the requirements of venting, including calculations of the recently released API standard 2000 6th Edition, which replaces the 5th 1998 edition of this standard.
Presentation of the new programme Protego on June 8 at the UPC of Barcelona.
The presentation took place during the celebration, on June 8, a technical seminar on 'Safety in the chemical industry, oil and natural Gas', organized by the University School of Industrial technical engineering of the Polytechnic University of Barcelona. In this seminar, which was attended by important representatives of the chemical industry, oil and pharmaceutical, was desgranaron, among others, contained extensive innovations in the new standard API 2000 6th Edition and safety recommendations on explosive atmospheres of liquid environmentsgas and powder solids.
According to the own director of Protego in Spain, Herwig Toedt, the new standard API 2000 6th Edition, incorporates major changes from its predecessor, who come to greatly improve the security on the storage of flammable liquids. In this regard, the calculations for the determination of the requirements of venting have undergone a radical change, which have a versatile calculation program is a great help for engineers and designers.
This calculation program can be downloaded for free at the website of the company (www.protego.com), as well as requesting it by email to any of its offices in Spain.
