Feique presents data on environmental evolution of the Spanish chemical sector

On 20 January, the President of the Federation business of the industry chemistry Española (Feique), Fernando Iturrieta, report with the Secretary of State for climate change, Teresa Ribera, the 'responsible care 2008', a program of the chemical industry with the aim of the companies in the sector to improve their performance continuously from environment, safety and health. Currently applied in 53 countries worldwide, the programme was adopted in Spain in 1993. Two thirds of Spanish chemical production are generated under the implementation of this programme, which sets strict performance practices aimed to improve the security and protection of the environment.
Responsible Care report presents the evolution of the qualitative and quantitative indicators since the beginning of the programme, including those referred to investments, emissions and discharges by type of pollutant, waste, energy and water consumption rates of accidents, activation of emergency plans, or accidents during the transport.
