The integration of systems of information of laboratory with software of equipment management saving time and cost for the laboratory
Mettler Toledo and Applied Biosystems presented a solution to simplify the flow of information in biology and Chemistry Laboratories
February 12, 2008
Mettler Toledo and Applied Biosystems have announced an integrated solution to improve the workflow and the transfer of information in laboratories in many scientific disciplines, including the biological, chemical, food and petrochemical industry. The companies have collaborated to create a unique solution through which researchers in these fields provide the means to Exchange data between precision equipment and laboratory information management systems.
Solution integrates the system of management of information of laboratory SQL * Lims for Applied Biosystems (Lims) with Mettler Toledo LabX data management software. This combination enables you to manage data more efficiently, which saves time and money to the researcher in daily laboratory processes, when compared with the use of equipment controlled by its own software and which operate independently of any system of information management at the time. Applied Biosystems will sell, install and perform maintenance systems SQL * Lims and implement the integration of LabX software.
"We wanted to partner with one of the leading providers of Lims in the world of the laboratory, which had the references necessary to advise our clients in their computing needs," said Holger Linnertz, Director of the LabX Competence Center of Mettler Toledo, who adds that "SQL * Lims of Applied Biosystems has a long history of industrial leadership and offers a total solution" "accessible to companies that meet the needs of laboratories of many scientific disciplines".
Laboratories can use SQL * Lims for managing all the workflow of including raw materials, sample tracking and data collection. LabX data management software controls all the precision balances and valuation of Mettler Toledo teams and manages the data they generate. Once integrated the two packages, SQL * Lims takes data of samples and, using LabX data management software, sends all operator instructions to the display of the teams of Mettler Toledo as a simple and intuitive user interface, so that users can use the equipment of laboratory in the usual way. The software guides the operator at each step of a list of work, ensuring compliance with the standard procedures of work (NTPS) to avoid errors in the procedure. Performs complete data acquisition and storage, as well as the documentation and reporting automated for tracks of audit; the data can be stored in the database of LabX and/or Lims, as appropriate.
"This joint solution enables Applied Biosystems extend its global experience in Lims to new and important markets." "We can offer to customers of Mettler Toledo a validated integrated and more flexible solution to manage their computer data that the series of disparate information systems that are often found in scientific laboratories that use equipment and software from several vendors", commented Peter Boogaard, Director of product management at Lims for Applied Biosystems.
