Functionality joins the design at the stand of Merck in the K 2010

In the 18th International trade fair plastics and rubber Merck will display its range of products and tools, both new as the already known, without departing from the basic idea of function and design, in other words, the game between decorative pigments and functional additives. The company is not independent fields, but it considers them as a whole. For example, the possibilities of application decorative additives on laser marking or to the protection of trademarks and products. "This principle is reflected in our tripartite concept of booth: function, design and a central area where both come together", says the company.

Merck will present its newly developed tools of demonstration, as the game of balls of Colorstream, showing all the chromatic spectrum from irised so glittering; or games of bottles, that allow to see how thick pigments, even in special applications, can achieve amazing effects. It will also display sets of tubes of co-extrusion in current fashion colours and plastic bottles painted on semi-transparent tones that play with the content and the packaging.

Another novelty will be the new Iriodin Pearlets PO and Miraval Pearlets PO, which will be presented for the first time to the plastic industry in K. The PO Pearlets offer an alternative to the SPC (Single Pigment Concentrate) which is used in the two-step masterbatch process. "The decisive advantage for the customer is we will release the production of the SPC," explains the company. In this way saves a step of work and, thereby, also production capacity, costs of cleaning and waste material.

Ultimately, the company provides pigments granular with a concentration of up to 80%, in quantities from 1 kilo. This will also save costs of storage and handling. But perhaps more important advantage is that suddenly you can have types of pigments in small quantities that before it could not be used as monobatch. This provides not only new opportunities economic, but also creative.

The new WAY 119 Iriodin (Weatherresistant Anti Yellowing) is a pigment specially developed for applications in plastic with a resistance to temperatures up to 800 ° c without yellowing. This is noticeable in the long run: plastics treated with Iriodin 119 WAY not yellow over time, weather or light. Therefore the compound pigments based on it are particularly suitable for applications in foreign, plastics and printing sectors as garden furniture, household appliances, plastic coatings, automotive and architecture. So home, car and others will remain white when the next generation to enjoy them.

The marking laser is recognized as the best procedure to mark plastic. It is accurate, rapid and efficient, and it can be applied to virtually all polymers. Micabs is an especially efficient granular additive and is notable because in marking the balls react regardless of the polymer that surrounds them.

Micabs A 208, which has shown outstanding results in markup, the new Micabs C 431 and 411 C, who have no heavy metals are now added and, therefore, permitted both in the production of toys and food packaging. Although without heavy metals is also a slight deviation from color to gray, the brand still remains quite well defined. This is not only important for the environment, but that it also opens up new productive sectors.

Plastic plates coloured in mass of the book have been completed for the first time through print samples and encourage them to extend and ennoble worlds of color defined by the use of effect pigments.
