In the frame of the SAW Meeting Fedit (Spanish Federation of Technological Centres/Centers), celebrated in Málaga on 25 October 2011, awarded the I Prize Fedit of the Innovation to the project ‘Design catalytic system of elimination of contaminantes in vehicles diesel', of the Technological Centre/Center of Automotion of Galicia (CTAG). The delivery of the I Prize Fedit of Innovation this year has been framed in the International Year of the Chemistry 2011.
The jury of this prize awarded the galardón to the project fruit of a project in Collaboration of the Technological Centre/Center of Automotion of Galicia (CTAG) and the University of Alicante (UA). The aim of this project is to give answer to one of the problematic graver of the actuality: the increase of the broadcasts contaminantes. In the particular case of the engines diesel the main gases issued are the monoxide of carbon, the hydrocarbons, the particles of soot or material particulado and the oxides of nitrogen (NOx). It fits to signal that at present the soot and the NOx are the two contaminantes that follow posing difficulties to the hour to be reduced in the engines diesel. These broadcasts contaminantes vehicular represent all a technological challenge for the big constructors of cars. The challenge posed in this project has been to try frame inside the new European Rule of Broadcasts, reducing the broadcasts of soot and of NOx.
A remarkable characteristic of this work, developed between 2009 and 2011, is to have achieved in an alone project visit a trecho, many times insalvable, from the most theoretical chemistry until the most applied:
