Extremadura irrigators communities manage to stop a 40% increase in the rates of irrigation

This commitment came after the extraordinary intervention of the delegation of the Government and the Junta de Extremadura, since the Confederation was intended to apply to the irrigators an almost a 40% increase in rates for the year 2008which came to be "disproportionate", in the words of the Extremadura representation.
The communities of irrigators Vegas Altas I, II, III and of the Canal de Orellana they acknowledged in a statement, the mediation of Carmen Pereira, delegate of the Government in this Western Province and Juan María Vázquez, Adviser for agriculture and Rural Developmentwho in conjunction with the affected parties recently held a meeting in which this agreement has been reached.
For this reason, the Confederation of the Guadiana is committed to addressing these resources, in order to adjust the rates more to the reality of the moment.
