The MARM foresees to tackle works of modernisation of regadíos by value of 36 million euros in the Marine Baixa Alicante

The proceedings, which will involve the modernization of 2.997 hectares, will affect the communities of irrigators in Callosa d'En Sarria and La Vila-Joiosa, reaching 2,500 irrigators. This tripartite agreements will be signed between the MARM, through Seiasa de la Meseta Sur, the Conselleria de Medi Ambient, Aigua, Territori i Habitatge and irrigators, within the framework of the Protocol of cooperation signed between both administrations to jointly finance the works referred to in the national strategy for the sustainable modernization of irrigation systems by 2015 horizon of the Government of Spain.

In the General State budgets, the MARM, through Seiasa of the Southern Plateau, plans to invest in the whole of the province of Alicante were 84.8 million euros more in future works of modernization of irrigation. Communities of the Marina Baixa irrigators along the Community General risks of Levante margin left del Segura, with a projected budget of 23.8 million of euros, the Regantes community, irrigation of Levante right margin of the Segurawith a budget of EUR 18 million and the transformation society San Enrique, who has a budget of EUR 7 million.

Irrigated areas object of already implemented actions (high, medium and lower Vinalopó and the Vega Baja del Segura) as those that are provided (Marina Baixa and Alto Vinalopó), enrol in the traditionally more loss-making regions of the Valencian Community in the field of water and therefore with greater needs for streamlining tools of irrigation systems.
