DuPontTM Altacor, registered for the control of caterpillars in various horticultural crops in Spain
Altacor, insecticide for foliar application whose active substance is Rynaxypyr, adds to his profile of effectiveness a high compatibility with the auxiliary fauna and pollinating insects, allowing its inclusion in programs of biological control. This good compatibility includes species of high economic importance as the predators Nesidiocoris tenuis, Orius laevigatu, Ambliseius swirskii, etc or parasitoids as Trychogramma achaeae, Aphidius colemani…
The registration includes the uses authorized in crops of tomato, pepper, eggplant, lettuce and endive. These crops were affected in our country by various caterpillars, among which include Tuta absoluta in the case of tomato to Helicoverpa armigera in tomato, eggplant, lettuce and endive or Spodoptera exigua in pepper, lettuce and endive, to name a few.
Altacor is an insecticide especially suitable to be included in integrated production and has a period of 1 day security in all horticultural crops for which has been authorized. In addition, thanks to its favorable toxicological and environmental profile it can be included in the different production protocols, facilitating the marketing of the crops. Altacor used according to label recommendations presents a low risk to the user, consumer, wildlife and the environment.
In tests conducted in the main producing areas, Altacor has shown that their levels of efficiency are equal or superior to the standards used, even in pest and difficult to control with high levels of damage in the plots witness (see graphic attached).
Since March this year Altacor 35WG had an outstanding warrant for the control of Tuta absoluta in tomato, in response to the request of the autonomous communities in order to successfully control the plague mentioned the difficulty of stopping their advance, since its detection in 2007, with the measures available to date.
With this authorization, Spain has become the first European country in commercializing Altacor and the second to obtain the registration.
