Puxeu says that the agricultural sector needs a "strong" community support from 2013
March 17, 2010
The Secretary of State discussed the future of agriculture and livestock against its three main challenges, which, as explained above, are the security of the global food, food quality and its adaptation to climate change. To meet these challenges, it opted for a "strong" community support. In this sense, Puxeu stressed that "the measures are beginning to bear fruit with a reduction in emissions of greenhouse gases by 20% in the last 20 years".
Stressing the importance of the agricultural and food sector, he recalled the European initiatives to mitigate the effects of farming on climate change. The proposals include the consideration of climate as one of the so-called new challenges and its Endowment, through Community funds, both in the 'health check' in the European Plan for economic recovery (Pere).
