The Valencian agricultural area has fallen by 8.5 per cent in five years
May 25, 2009
By type of crop, which has suffered most this loss of surface has been the Tiger nut, with a decrease of 6.69 per cent, from 493 hectares in 2004 to 460 in 2008. On the climbs, "champion" par excellence is the kaki, a crop of fashion in recent times (especially in the comarca of La Ribera) given their high profitability. This fruit has experienced a growth of 60% in the area of culture, something that now concerns agricultural organizations because the excess growing of a product can cause saturation of the market with the consequent fall in the prices of the same.
