UPA vaticina “Dramatic consequences” for the rural world if it approves the flat tax of the PAC

Spain has agrosistemas very diverse: from the steppes cerealistas to the zones hortofrutícolas, going through the olivar and the viñedo, without forgetting the livestock, that in our country also is special, as in a lot of cases has little or any earth associated to the exploitation. Thus, “a flat tax in Spain would generate distortions very difficult to correct. Some producers would see to reduce his helps notably, whereas others would receive more injustificadamente”, has explained the general secretary of UPA Lorenzo Bouquets. Bouquets kept a meeting with the minister of Agriculture of Ireland, Simon Coveney, on duty president of the European Council of Agriculture, that celebrates in Brussels, his last ordinary meeting before the appointment in which predictably it will reach the definite agreement of the reform of the PAC.
The organisation has recalcó that one of the main lacks of this reform of the PAC are the measures of gestión of market. “At least we ask that they review and they update the prices of reference and that establish exceptions to the norms of competition, taking into account the special characteristics of the agricultural sector”, has concluded.
