Anove Applauds the first steps of the EU to have a legal frame more modern in seeds and vegetal health

The aim of simplification and harmonisation marked from Brussels through the union of all the valid directives on specific crops in an alone regulation, will make possible that it have foundations much stronger that will transform in greater productivity, sustainability, diversity and quality of our agriculture and horticulture, so much to national level like European. One of the main novelties of this new legislative package European is the integration of all the thematic concerning seeds under the control of the Office of Feeding and Veterinary (FVO in his acronyms in English). Beyond all doubt, this measure will be a great help so that all the European rule in this area apply of form harmonised in all the States member, a previous step so that we have a market of competitive seeds to European level.
Although beyond all doubt these first steps are very necessary, is equal of important give them a continuity. “The commercialisation of seeds has had effective tools for the development of this market since they adopted in Brussels the first directives along the years 60, and has been also a continuous stimulus for the innovation in vegetal improvement”, comments Antonio Villarroel, general secretary of Anove. “From here we do a call to national level and European to guarantee the success of this new frame regulatorio”. From the THAT, European association of which is member Anove, expects also that a productive dialogue between the European Parliament and the States member on this subject, crucial in moments in that the alimentary hygiene constitutes a challenge for the productive and sustainable agriculture. The seeds of high quality are the base of a sustainable and competitive agriculture so much in the EU as in Spain. Therefore, they are the members of the European Parliament those who now have in his hands the responsibility to guarantee a legal frame that support the work of obtentores and agriculturalists to follow increasing the value of the product.
