The prestigious cellar Eguren Ugarte, in the Rioja Alavesa, has realised this year a proof of the new system designated Enocontrol, that allows to realise a vintage mechanised in which, by means of technicians of viticulture of precision, can select the grape of form automated between two different marked qualities by the enólogo in a same viñedo. This system, commercialised by New Holland in his new range of grape harvesters B9000, showed also to a selection of customers Came Master.

The end of the vintage in the Rioja Alavesa, to first of the month of October, went this year special for the cellar Eguren Ugarte: one of his best viñedos went to be vendimiado with the new system Enocontrol, selecting automatically the grape collected between two marked qualities by the enóloga of the cellar with the end of vinificar these grapes separately to analyse in some months the differences regarding excellence in the quality of the wines.

Enocontrol Is a new step in the viticulture of precision that has developed to commercial level the multinational New Holland like an option for his new range of grape harvesters B9000, valued in the market by his efficiency, quality of collected of the grape and perfect deal of the vineyard. With Enocontrol the vendimiadora advances by the vineyard and, following a map of qualities previously developed with the indications of the cellar, goes selecting the grape of automatic form and depositing it in each one of the hoppers according to the quality.

The grapes vendimiadas in different zones produce wines of different qualities and qualities, being this the base of the development of the new system Enocontrol. The process begins with the bet of the cellar so much by the viticulture of precision as for the research of the excellence in the selection of quality of his wines. The viticulture of precision analyses the factors that affect to the production and to the quality of the grape (floor, topography, microclimate, the health of the vineyard, etc.), as well as the realisation of suitable practices of the gestión of the viticulture (design of espalderas, poda, application of fertilizantes, irrigation, moment of harvest, etc.).

In this dynamics, a step more to forward is the new concept Enocontrol, that incorporates the viticulture of precision in the most important moment as it is the selection of the grape in the own vintage mechanised. Using the new systems of global positioning (GPS), meteorological and environingingmental sensors, satellites and systems of information of aerial and geographic teledetection (SIG) and a special software in the vendimiadora, achieves what does some years seemed impossible.

But, how works Enocontrol? In the first place, the grape harvesters New Holland B9000 can instrument with Enocontrol from factory, incorporating a mechanical system of stravel transportadoras that addresses the grape to a hopper or to the another according to the orders of the central computer. That is to say, that if the machine is going through a marked zone like quality ‘To', the grape directs to the hopper ‘To', and if it goes in in a zone of quality ‘B', the grape goes to the hopper ‘B'. The system allows also use the machine of normal form, filling the two hoppers with the same quality, if necessary, or even select manually to which hopper goes to go the grape harvested.

The software Enocontrol incorporates the map of qualities: the blue zone is of a quality and the green of another.

So that the machine know when it is in a zone ‘To' or in a zone ‘B' need the technicians of viticulture of precision. For example, in the cellar Eguren Ugarte has realised a previous work with aerial teledetection and has created a map of the viñedo differentiated by the vigour of the plants, marking the zones as have more or less vigour (exist already service companies that realise these maps of quality and performances).

Are the enólogos, or the managers of viticulture of the cellar, those that mark the criteria of the quality to select (vigour, chlorophyl, type of floor, levels of sugar, experience of the own viticultor, etc.). This map incorporates to the software of the vendimiadora with Enocontrol (in this case a B9080 L) and, thanks to the GPS, the machine knows when happens of a zone to another and directs the grape to a hopper or another. Besides, with this same technology the vendimiadora can realise the phytosanitary ware treatments, poda in green, credited, etc., using the same principles of differentiation and particularización for each point of the viñedo.

All this sophisticated system Enocontrol has a logical aim: increase the quality of the wine and his final price to the consumer, improving the prestige and the image of mark of the cellars. In the proofs realised three years ago in Cellars Torres, when it was developing the system Enocontrol, the results were spectacular and improved clearly the quality. In this sense, if the cost of the system Enocontrol increases in 12% the price of the vendimiadora, the increase of the price of the wine could elevate between 20% or 25%, without explaining the profits regarding image of mark and prestige.

This is the reason by which important Spanish cellars, all they members of the program Came Master of New Holland, attended to the day of field organised by New Holland in the cellar Eguren Ugarte to show the system Enocontrol. A selecto group of 20 technicians and responsible of cellars like Cune (Finca Contino), Ochoa, Cellars Bilbainas (Group Codorníu), Iñurrieta, Vineyards of the Vero, as well as managers of the D.Or.C Rioja and of the Universities of The Rioja and the Basque Country. All they valued very positively the system and the possibilities that offers and the best proof was the interest that showed for going up to the vendimiadora and see his operation.

Besides, they commented the enormous evolution of the new series B9000 with his system of handle intelligent IMS, that controls the engine, the hydrostatic and all the functions of the cabezal of vintage, allowing that the engine work to variable revolutions of agreement to the demands of power, achieving a saving of 35% of fuel. The B9090X explain, besides, with nivelación automatic of series and all the confort and the hygiene New Holland.
